Welcome to the Diocese of Plymouth

Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God Romans 15:7

Welcome to the Diocese of Plymouth – the Catholic Church in the Southwest of England. We are a community of people who seek to follow Jesus as his disciples. We share, celebrate and express our faith, by giving witness to our belief and encounter with the living God who is the source of our life. On this website you will find out more about our mission and how we can support your spiritual journey.

As Diocesan Administrator, my role is to provide leadership so that the mission of the Gospel may be taken forward effectively at all levels of the Diocese. We continue to joyfully spread the good news of the Kingdom of God. This will always be our mission as a community and as individuals.

In this Jubilee Year, may you enjoy a time of reflection, of new insight, and of a deepening of your relationship with the Lord. May our love be a witness to those who may feel lost or hopeless, and may it encourage them on their pilgrimage to find the way, the truth and the life. May we all continue to take every opportunity to, as St Paul says, ‘serve one another … in works of love’ and to love our neighbours as ourselves.

Please also pray that those responsible for choosing our next Bishop will be open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and choose the right man for our Diocese. I will be praying for you.

May God bless you.

Canon Paul Cummins

On Thursday 8th May 2025,  it was announced to the World that Cardinal Robert Francis had been elected Pope Leo XIV.
